Technisch Prenten & gravures

Grafiek werd oorspronkelijk gebruikt om te communiceren. Uitzonderlijke technische kenmerken maken het tot een waardevol artistiek medium. De kunstenaar maakt een afbeelding op een plat oppervlak om er een afdruk van te maken. Om een originele afdruk te maken, inkt de kunstenaar het oppervlak en drukt het op papier. Printmaking is het proces van het afdrukken van kunstwerken. Meestal op papier, maar ook op stof, hout, metaal en andere oppervlakken. ... Met uitzondering van monotyping kunnen alle drukprocessen identieke veelvouden van hetzelfde artwork produceren. De zo geproduceerde werken worden prenten of "impressies" genoemd.
