L'affection de Monroe pour Brooklyn a probablement été influencée par son ancien mari Arthur Miller, qui y vivait lorsque les deux sont tombés amoureux. Ils se sont mariés en 1956 et sont restés ensemble jusqu'en 1961, un an avant sa mort. Dans une autre interview, elle avait déclaré à cette époque : "Je vais acheter une petite maison à Brooklyn et y vivre. Je n'irai sur la côte que lorsque j'aurai à faire une photo."

Monroe's affection for Brooklyn was likely influenced by her former husband Arthur Miller, who was living there when the two fell in love. They married in 1956 and stayed together until 1961, a year before his death. In another interview, she said at the time, "I'm going to buy a little house in Brooklyn and live there. I'm not going to the coast until I have to take a picture."
