Anna Beata Wątróbska-Wdowiarska is a contemporary Polish sculptress specializing in medals. She attended the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts between 1981 and 1987 and studied medal making under the direction of Professor Zofia Demkowska. Her master’s degree graduation work, under Professor Stanisław Słonina, was awarded the Marian Wnuk medal. Anna Beata has created numerous medals that are featured in Polish and foreign museums, as well as in private collections. Her body of work consists of over a hundred meticulously crafted medals, both cast and struck.
Anna Beata has earned numerous awards for her exceptional artistic creations. Some of her notable awards include: Third Prize in the Closed competition by Sculpture Department, Academy of Fine Art, and the Mayor of Łowicz, commemorating the 850th Anniversary of Łowicz (minted medal, 1986); an Award for the artistic level granted by the Hungarian Numismatic Institute, FIDEM, Budapest (casted medal, 1994); Third Prize in The Competition for the Congressional Medal of Honor, FIDEM, Neuchatel (1996); First Award in the competition held by the Society of Maria Skłodowska-Curie and the Academy of Fine Arts, Warsaw, to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the discovery of radium (minted medal, 1996); Second Award in the competition held by the Civic Centre of Warsaw to commemorate the 400th Anniversary of Warsaw (minted medal, 1996); First Award in the competition held by the Parliament of the Republic of Poland for the parliamentary medal (casted medal, 1996); Second place in a competition organized by the BASIS School of Sculpture in association with the Israeli Art Medal Association and the Italian Cultural Institute in Tel Aviv to celebrate the 600th anniversary of the birth of Masaccio (cast medal, 2002); Special Award in the International Art Medal Competition "Anima Spititus Violin" in Tel Aviv (2002); Most Excellent Work in The International Coin Design Competition Japan Mint (2003); Fine Work in The International Coin Design Competition Japan Mint (2004); Third place in VII Autumnal Salon of Art "Dante Europeo 2003" in Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski, Poland (2004); Special Mention in Hans Christian Andersen 200, International Art Medal Competition, Tel Aviv (2005); Honorable Mention for "Drop" in VIII Autumnal Salon of Art in Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski, Poland (2006); First Prize in The International Art Medal Competition "Beauty of Animals" in China (2016); and First Prize in The International Art Medal Competition "FIDEM medal" (2019).
