Saïda (2009) Painting by Roy

Andrée Roy was born in Montreal (Canada) in 1962.
She studied Fine Arts, Fashion and Interior Design.
She built a successful career as an Interior Designer. However, her passion for painting and drawing remained, and for over a decade she studied various painting techniques and mediums such as watercolour and oil.
Finally, she chooses oil painting in a style of her own, using spatulas and keeping textures and emotions without falling into details. Her style is a contemporary figurative, filled with realism.
Since 2009, she won several awards through many national and international exhibitions in Canada and Europe and you can now find her works in many private and public collections as well as in galleries in Canada and Europe.
She is a professional member of the RAAV and recently, the Society of Arts Sciences and Letters of Paris rewarded her with a silver medal.
Although she can do portraits on demand, it is important to mention that Roy’s paintings are not based on photographs, but inspired by the artist’s memories.
