New beginning 1 (2020) Fotografie door Yura Taralov

This project was born at a time when I was working in an office. I went to work there precisely because I wanted to start my next "new beginning", but in the end, it was another failure and a wrong path. Constantly spending time on something that felt like emptiness. After that, I returned to photography and took some sheets of paper from the office to create this series of photographs.

Any new beginning brings with it new consequences. Sometimes we think that starting with a clean slate, we will be able to change our lives for the better, but this does not always happen. With this series of works, I wanted to explore how new ideas are woven into our lives and follow us to the end. After all, our life consists of these beginnings, of these blank sheets that are layered on each other and form both protective armor and our vulnerabilities. We are overgrown with new and new layers, slowly forgetting who we really are, what we want and what we strive for. The whole new experience, which then passes with us through our whole life, is just one of hundreds of the same smooth or crumpled beginnings of our life. We are all moving in the direction of our inner self, which is based on what was "before", with the hope that there will be "after".
