Born into a family of Ukrainian descent, Vladimir Horik was born on February 14, 1939 in Edmonton, Alberta. Raised in Western Canada, he has kept this love for the forest and the land.
In the early 1960s, he chose to settle in Quebec and left military life to undertake academic studies in art. He obtained his diploma from the École des beaux-arts de Québec and a teaching certificate in visual arts from Laval University.
A mature painter, the artist has enjoyed success for several years across Canada and in Europe.
Vladimir Horik explores his world of luminosity in such a personal way that we recognize at first glance his generous brushstroke as well as its marked contrasts. Vladimir throws on his canvases brilliant colors and powerful gradations borrowed from the ends of the day. His landscapes literally ignite under the illumination of the infernos of light that a first snow barely calms down. His fiery brushstroke invents skies that must have been observed on the spot to be believed !.

The harmony of his vibrant colors, spectacular light effects and bold brushwork is instantly recognizable. Vladimir Horik was born of Ukrainian parents in Edmonton, Alberta on 14 February 1939. He grew up in Western Canada and still feels a deep love for the forest and the land. He graduated from the École des beaux-arts in Quebec City and later earned a teaching certificate in plastic arts from Université Laval.
For many years, this mature painter has achieved great success across Canada and in Europe. Vladimir Horik explores his world of light in such a personal way that his generous brush strokes and sharp contrasts are immediately recognizable. Vladimir splashes his canvases with luminescent colors and powerful contrasts drawn from the twilight hours. His landscapes literally are inflamed with glowing embers of light imperceptibly softened by first snowfall. His bold brushstrokes create skies that must be seen firsthand to be believed!
