Villada lives and works in Colombia, where he establishes himself as an exceptional artist in the field of abstract drawing. Rejecting pseudo-modernization and alignment with power groups, he adopts an irreverent and critical stance in the face of cultural and social dependence.

Villada primarily uses the mezzotinto technique, a complex process also called mezzotint. This process consists of starting from a homogeneous black background to, in a sutractive way, reveal areas of light and obtain halftones. This technique requires perfect mastery of drawing and chiaroscuro, comparable to that of marble sculptors who remove fragments of material to bring out the desired shape.

Villada's iconography explores dense and imposing jungles, where a simple detail like a leaf at the edge of the frame contrasts with the surrounding immensity. He thus juxtaposes the tiny and the excessive, the ephemeral and the eternal, celebrating the beauty of landscapes far from large polluted and toxic cities. This work also invites reflection on the dark realities of the Colombian forests, where clandestine groups and captives endure prolonged periods of survival, hidden among the lush foliage.

At the same time, Villada presents split images in deep colors, metaphorical still lifes and sinuous tears that suggest a continuous transformation of his most intimate emotions. His work reveals the secret and subtle manifestations of vegetation and flora, with erotic and voluptuous forms. Taking almost a cubist approach, he observes objects from different perspectives, transforming everyday objects like aerosols into sensual organic fruits.

As one of the few Colombian artists specializing in this practice, Villada demonstrates eloquent virtuosity in drawing, perspective, chromaticism and detail. His works transcend the coordinates of time and space, transporting the viewer to limitless places. Through its ability to communicate regional specificity while building a global structure, Villada perfectly embodies the characteristics of our century and invites lucid and voluntary understanding and social transformation.
