Stéphane BOSSART is a Beninese photographer who develops his practice around social, cultural and contemporary life in Africa. He is also the promoter of the Phot'Art Afro Festival which is a contemporary art photography festival in Benin. Attracted by documentation, discovery and encounters, he travels through different African countries in order to expose the multiple faces and landscapes of the region. The relationships and social ties within cities and communities, as well as the historical and cultural heritage, become the engine of his artistic research. His experience has thus enabled him to develop artistic series that expose his personal vision of the African continent and, more particularly, of his country, Benin. Stéphane BOSSART highlights cultural diversity and the importance of social ties. Residing between France and Benin, he develops his photographic practice between Europe and Africa. This is how he has participated in the photography fair at the Porte de Versailles since 2017; co-organizes the exhibition on the “Divine Feminine” in Cotonou, Benin (2019) and “Initiation” in France (2020) for Benin Independence Day. He is also present during the days of the Beninese diaspora (2017-2019), and the Africa festival in France. His work is award-winning and internationally recognized. He notably won the prize for the best photographer in West Africa in Togo in 2018, an honorary distinction for the best photographer at the night of the diaspora in Paris in 2018, as well as the prize for the best African photographer at the " African talents ́awards in Ivory Coast in 2019. More recently Stéphane BOSSART won the second prize in the "calling across the distance" competition organized by Emergent Art Space in California and the African photography grand prize at the African tour of the cooperation (TAC).
