Die Dinge sind, wie sie sind. Wie wir sie sehen, bestimmt, was sie für uns bedeuten.
Ausgangspunkt meiner künstlerischen Arbeit ist immer das fotografische Bild. Ich versuche die Dinge zu sehen, wie sie sie sind. Keine Wertung, kein Wissen, nur Form, Struktur, Farbe, Licht und Schatten. Ein möglichst unvoreingenommener Blick ist der entscheidende Ansatz bei der Motivwahl. Interessant kann alles sein – Auffälliges und Übersehenes.
Meine Arbeit stellt keine Fragen, sie gibt schon gar keine Antworten. Sie bietet Projektionsflächen für die individuelle Betrachtung und zielt auf die visuelle Wahrnehmung der Dinge, die uns umgeben.
Die fertigen Bilder positionieren sich im Spannungsfeld zwischen konkreter Fotografie und Abstraktion. Der Kontext der ursprünglichen Aufnahme hat i.d.R wenig Bedeutung für die Rezeption durch den Betrachter. Für die eigene Arbeit, den subjektiven individuellen Bezug zum einzelnen Motiv haben die Umstände der jeweilgen Aufnahme durchaus Relevanz.
Der bewußte Einsatz von Farbe, Form und Struktur sowie die Qualität der Komposition machen ein Foto zu einem Kunstwerk. Vermeintlich strenge formale Regeln, wie etwa das quadratische Format, helfen bei der Fokussierung auf das Wesentliche. Die digitale Verfremdung z.B. entbindet das Augangsbild von seiner Interpretierbarkeit und schafft eine neue, eigenständige Form.
