Vai e Vien erano i più grandi produttori di carne sintetica dell'universo; la loro attività era in
costante sviluppo grazie al fatto che personalmente esploravano continuamente nuove
zone della galassia nelle quali piazzare il loro prodotto. Bisogna ammettere che la loro
carne non fosse così buona come andavano dicendo ma bisogna pur riconoscere loro la
capacità di coinvolgere nella attività i personaggi utili al loro commercio.
Premetto che questa è una storia tristissima, purtroppo vera ma di grande importanza
morale che pone nella giusta visuale il fine supremo di ogni vivente di fare soldi.
Vai e Vien vennero informati dell'esistenza di un pianeta colmo di abitanti di buon appetito.
Il giorno stesso partirono con il loro disco fuori serie e in poco tempo raggiunsero il
pianeta. Da un rapido volo radente ebbero la conferma della voracità dei giganteschi
abitanti dalle grandi fauci che si facevano chiamare uomini. Avuto conferma del buon
mercato, trovarono l'interlocutore adatto quasi subito, semplicemente sorvolando un
assembramento di mostri intenti ad azzannare enormi panini. A dirigere e alimentare la
folla c'era un grosso individuo dall' aspetto truce; governava un grosso braciere; imbottiva
panini distribuendoli agli affamati e intascava soldi. "Magnifico" urlò Vai, ma subito,
rivolto a Vien "guarda è terribile!". Vien afferrò l'ingranditore ottico e vide anche lui: una pila
di loro fratelli dall' aspetto salamelle forme, chiaramente anestetizzati, in attesa di essere
inforcati e sbattuti sul braciere. Bisognava salvarli. Vai e Vien nascosero l”astronave sotto
un tavolo e corsero verso i poveri con planetari . Nessuno si accorse di loro, tranne una
bimba che urlò al padre: "papà, guarda due salsicce che corrono e parlano" , ma ebbe
come risposta:" se parlano, sono tua mamma e mia suocera". Vai e Vien trafelati
raggiunsero la piramide di salamelle constatando di non trattarsi di loro fratelli ma di una
montagna di carne che li indusse a fregarsi le mani dalla soddisfazione. Eccitati come
erano non valutarono due circostanze: erano troppo vicino al mucchio di salamelle e
somigliavano alle salamelle. Furono inforcati e sbattuti sulla graticola. Ne vennero due
panini: "buoni, che cosa ci hai messo?". ,"maiale, manzo e il mio condimento segreto che
chiamo spaziale".
