Sergey Veda (English: Sergey Teodor Veda; born on December 5, 1963, in Yalta, Autonomous Republic of Crimea, USSR – passed away on November 28, 1999) – a Greek; an artist and philosopher. He was an advocate for the spiritual dimension of art. While relatively unknown to the general public, he was highly esteemed among professional circles and had an international reputation. His art, as a means of spiritual growth and the pursuit of perfection and sanctity, can be described as the fundamental aspects of the creator's paintings and graphics. In his brief 36 years of life, Sergey left behind just over a hundred paintings and an countless number of graphic works (drawings, etchings, mixed-media pieces). His most productive years were spent during his time in the United States, specifically in San Francisco, from 1992 to 1999. Among his most renowned works are "Guardian Angel," "Green Cannabis of the Sky," "Catch," and "Party." The overwhelming majority of his finest works are held in private collections in America and France. He tragically lost his life in the Argentine Cordilleras during a journey in 1999 and was laid to rest in Ushuaia, Argentina.

Of fame or life, which do you hold more dear? Of life or health, to which would you adhere? Keep life and lose those other things; Keep them and lose your life: — which brings sorrow and pain more near? Thus we may see, who cleaves to fame, rejects what is more great; Who loves large stores gives up the richer state. Who is content needs fear no shame. Who knows to stop incurs no blame. From danger free, long live shall he.

The multitude of men look satisfied and pleased; as if enjoying a full banquet, as if mounted on a tower in spring. I alone seem listless and still, my desires having as yet given no indication of their presence. I am like an infant which has not yet smiled. I look dejected and forlorn, as if I had no home to go to. The multitude of men all have enough and to spare. I alone seem to have lost everything. My mind is that of a stupid man; I am in a state of chaos.
Ordinary men look bright and intelligent, while I alone seem to be benighted. They look full of discrimination, while I alone am dull and confused. I seem to be carried about as on the sea, drifting as if I had nowhere to rest. All men have their spheres of action, while I alone seem dull and incapable, like a rude borderer. Thus I alone am different from other men, but I value the nursing-mother.

His art serves as a means of spiritual growth, achieving perfection, and holiness. These are the fundamental aspects that describe the work of this painter and graphic artist. In his short life of 36 years, Sergey left behind just over a hundred paintings and an countless number of graphic works (drawings, etchings, mixed media pieces). He began drawing at the age of three and never parted with his pencil throughout his life. Drawing was his way of understanding and communicating with the world, a path to spiritual perfection.

His first solo exhibitions took place in Yalta and Sevastopol from 1983 to 1990. In 1991, his first significant solo exhibition was held at the Central House of Artists on Krymsky Val in Moscow. This was followed by a series of exhibitions in underground galleries in Moscow and Leningrad/St.Petersburg. Galleries such as M'ARS, Pan-Dan, and Kino in Moscow, as well as the Central Exhibition Hall "Manege" in Leningrad, showcased his work.

Among his notable admirers and friends, one can mention Boris Grebenshchikov, Sergey Kuryokhin, gallery owner Galina Daneliya, and philosopher-sinologist Bronislav Vinogrodskyi.

He gave a series of instructional lectures at specialized educational institutions in the United States. Starting from 1992 to 1996 in the USA, a highly productive period of the artist's life began. Lectures across various states alternated with his own active work and solo exhibitions. Each lecture was preceded by a three-day exhibition within the walls of the educational institution, followed by an engaging narrative with direct participation of all attendees. More than 40 lectures were delivered, and over 10 solo exhibitions were held in galleries in different cities, including the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA), San Francisco Art Institute, International Art Museum of America, The Geffen Contemporary at MOCA in Los Angeles, Long Beach Museum of Art, Culver City gallery, New Image Art (NIA) and others.
