Pop Schlumpfine (2020) Printmaking by Ronny Reinecke

“Art is, so to speak, freedom and order in my chaos and has therefore changed my life,” says the pop art artist Ronny Reinecke, who was born in Havelberg in 1979. Although art was already one of Reinecke's great passions when he was at school, the initial spark for intensive and serious art creation only came about around the age of 30, when a lecturer at the nursing school gave him an order for an acrylic painting. From then on, painting became more and more an essential part of the creative pop artist Ronny Reinecke's life, who, apart from taking lessons with Ruth Schein, acquired his artistic skills autodidactically. And this with great success, which can also be seen in his artist biography: in the last four years alone, the artist has been involved in over 20 exhibitions at home and abroad. The joy of experimenting with different materials and spontaneity are just as much a part of Reinecke's work process on his sculptures as on his pictures. For topics that are of particular emotional concern to the artist, contemplation and reading about the topic as well as sketches made on the cell phone serve as preparation, but the execution is very free, leaving room for chance and spontaneity and the end product always depends on the original deviates.
On a formal level, his pictures combine the expressivity of Jean-Michel Basquiat with the well-thought-out composition of Hanns Lohrer. Visibly influenced by pop art artists such as Andy Warhol, he overcomes pop art with its mere recitation of cultural codes and mass products by elevating unpleasant topics such as his own conflicts and social injustices to the content of his works. These confront viewers with, among other things, discrimination, colonialism, war and child abuse. The style, which is based on poster art with writing and symbols, forces you to look without the works appearing striking. Although formally laid out in a two-dimensional manner, they gain image depth through their content.
He is a socially committed artist who wants to use his works of art to trigger reflection and rethinking that should lead to more social commitment.
