Ich weiß nicht, ob die Stufe immer quietscht, die Treppe immer knarrt. Dieser Tage jedenfalls bemerkte ich, dass da nicht nur eine Schraube locker ist, sondern eine ganze Treppenstufe. Setzte mich hin, horchte und schaute, was das ist und was da ist. Unter der Stufe der Treppe meines Hauses finde ich ein Geheimnis. Etwas, das ich vielleicht irgendwann einmal da versteckt habe? Oder etwas, das sich versteckt hat? Neugierig und ein wenig scheu lugt da die Stille hervor. Und wir schauen uns tief in die Augen, so nahe, dass sich die Wimpern berühren, wie es sonst nur in ganz intimen Situationen geschieht. Wimper an Wimper, Nase an Nase. Ich und die Ruhe, die sich laut bemerkbar macht.
Sie verstehen sicher meine Verwunderung? Es ist ein wenig so, als würden Sie ganz hinten in Ihrem Schuhschrank längst vergessene Schuhe entdecken. „Ach, schau mal da!“, die alten Stöckelschuhe, die meine Achillessehne einmal in den Wahnsinn getrieben haben. Der leisen Sohlen wegen, wie ich dachte; der Bequemlichkeit wegen, um überall hinzukommen, renne ich seit Jahren auf Sneakers. Zeitgemäß, sportlich, hüpfend in nie gekannte Höhen. Da, wo niemand sonst war und ist. Dachte ich, wollte ich, laut, bunt, anders.
Nun, wo alles laut ist und ich schwindele, die Farben sich etwas ausgetobt haben und ihre persönliche Bestzeit erreicht haben, ist Zeit für diese Stille, die des leisen Klackerns auf dem Gehsteig. Ahhh, hören Sie? Eine andere Technik, ein neues Bild. Etwas ungewöhnlich für diesen Puls. Und so kommt es ganz plötzlich, dass es schneller weg war, als ich es Ihnen erzählen kann. Schwupp, in beste Hände vergeben, an andere Wände verkauft. Gute Reise, my Dear, mach’s gut!

For Rea Schenk, art is a way of dealing with the unspeakable . An opportunity to question common categories and appropriately re-establish them. As an engineer, she is a career changer in the art scene. Certainly not by chance and for various reasons, she has found digital art to be the right thing for her at the moment, but is increasingly experimenting in combination with traditional techniques. For them, technology is not a narcissistic violation of their boundaries, but rather an extension and help to express what other languages do not allow. Original photographs change, are sometimes discarded, rearranged, processed using very different techniques and, increasingly, completely painted over. Rea chooses the path that always wants something more, looks for something in between. Who seeks to capture the atmospheric, what cannot be said.

WHO?

Woman, artist and technician, born in Berlin in 1969. Graphic design was my passion early on, but I didn't have the courage for a long time. In addition to graphic work for small museums, clubs, musicians and small agencies, the path initially went into technology. As an engineer, I returned to CAD and my passion through technical drawing and photography.
