Peter Antip is a whole chapter in the art of modern Ukraine. One of the most expensive artists of modern Ukraine. Honored Artist of Ukraine (2009). A number of sculptures and paintings were presented at solo international exhibitions (Paris, Bordeaux, Magdeburg, Malmo) and exhibitions throughout Ukraine (Kiev, Lutsk, Ternopil, Lviv, Chernihiv, Donetsk, Gorlovka, Mariupol). Antip Peter Ivanovich (sometimes encountered - Antyp Pyotr) - born April 4, 1959 in Gorlovka, Honored Artist of Ukraine (2009). Member of the Union of Artists of the USSR since 1989, member of the Union of Artists of Ukraine since 1992. One of the most charismatic and recognizable Ukrainian artists.

EDUCATION:

Studied at the Penza Art School. K. A. Savitsky (1980-1984), the department of sculpture. At the same time he studied painting and graphics. 1982-1986. - Continued training in the art workshops. Teachers by profession - A. Severin, V. Tsoi and A. Bem. Worked at the Donetsk Art Works. In 1989 received second prize at the International Sculpture Symposium in Ternopil..

ARTISTIC CONCEPT:

"I now see the world in geometric shapes, like microcosm and macrocosm. Only in the cosmos there are stars, and I have cubes and squares, and I add them up." - Thus Antip Petr is recognizable by his style in a unique author's technique.

As art historians themselves have indicated, Peter Antip is a representative of non-figurative expressionism. The artist is known for his signature monumental style, the original combination of modernity and the archaic. So, in this picture, the artist managed to take one of the most famous archaeological monuments in the world, created around the XXX century BC, and place it on the canvas with the characteristic use of bright, saturated colors.

Marina Streltsova, an art curator, noted at one of the artist's recent exhibitions held at the Ukrainian House in March 2021: "Pyotr Antip combines the modern and the archaic by connecting anthropomorphic images, geometry and abstract figures. This interweaving creates something completely new.

PROVENANCE:
The presented painting is a live example of the best period of the artist's work, when he was creating in his hometown. The painting was presented to a Kiev journalist who came to Gorlovka in 2003 for an interview with the famous painter of Ukraine. In honor of acquaintance the artist gave one of his last paintings - "Stonehenge".
Today Peter Antip's early paintings and sculptures (before the occupation of the Donetsk region in 2014) are especially rare on the art market. Some of them have survived in private collections and museums, but most have been lost due to military action in eastern Ukraine.
