Mammadov Orkhan Yashar is a contemporary Azerbaijani painter. A distinguished alumnus of The Institute of Art and Culture of Azerbaijan, Orkhan earned his Bachelor's degree, marked by a distinguished diploma. His academic pursuits continued at The Art Academy of Azerbaijan, where he delved into the realm of art criticism, earning a Master's degree.
During his university years, Orkhan showcased his talent and dedication by participating in poster competitions, where his efforts garnered multiple awards, setting the stage for a promising artistic career. Post-graduation, he seamlessly transitioned into the role of a painter and became a member of the Artists Union of Azerbaijan, solidifying his place within the artistic community.
In the early years following his academic achievements, Orkhan drew inspiration from the timeless works of Old Masters such as Leonardo da Vinci, Rembrandt, Rubens, Ivan Shishkin, and Karl Bryullov. These influences shaped his early artistic endeavors, contributing to the development of his technical prowess and appreciation for classical art.
However, it was in 2004 that Mammadov Orkhan emerged onto the professional arts scene with a distinctive creative style that marked a departure from his earlier influences. His breakthrough was evident in "Top-to-tail," a groundbreaking piece where he ingeniously cut and rearranged fragments of his own canvases. This technique not only showcased his artistic innovation but also laid the foundation for his subsequent works.
Orkhan's new artistic direction was characterized by a fusion of oil painting with patchwork elements. This synthesis became a defining feature of his oeuvre, and he explored this innovative style in notable pieces such as "My Dream," "Portrait," and "Mixed Songs of Landscapes," among others. In this phase of his career, he expanded his artistic toolkit by incorporating mixed media elements like threads and ropes, which became integral to his creative process.
The artist's philosophy in art found expression through these unconventional materials, and his unique style garnered attention and acclaim in the art world. As Orkhan continued his creative activity, his growing artistic roster and body of work showcased his versatility and commitment to pushing the boundaries of traditional artistic expression.
