Leo has been painting for over 30 years, always abstract. He has had some formal training in sculpture, but is mainly self taught. He currently works in oil and applies this lavishly. He works from his studio in Naarden, the Netherlands.
His main theme is nature in the broadest sense. Not only what we see but also what we feel and perceive. His leading theme is: nature wins, always. By this he means that men can do whatever, but nature is a constant. This understanding is what he tries to convey in his paintings. It is the awe for everything around us, not only the landscapes, animals etc, but also our role in this environment and in time, where we have only come into play and will disappear from play shortly on the enormous timescale of nature.
