Technique-wise, these sculptures are kiln cast from float glass. Float glass is prone to a specific defect, a de-vitrification known as "tin bloom", when the invisible to the eye thin tin film crystalizes at high temperatures. I took the chance to turn the defect into desired and controlled effect: I was purposely placing glasses tin-side to tin-side and clean-side to clean-side to achieve the characteristic pattern seen in these sculptures. Then there are copper and brass foils melted together with the glass at the top of each piece, and finally some surfaces were selectively polished.
