I’m from an Estonian family where I have other relative who also chose art as their career path. They, my grandfather Rein Tammik and my uncle Jan Tammik have definitely had their artistic influence on my choices for art technic and thematic. I have briefly worked under their instruction during my university years so I have painted both landscape and still life. Still life is the thematic I’ve chosen to master and to focus on after a long pause I had from artist career due to family obligations. The organic shapes and different textures can easily be combined into interesting compositions. Also contrasting the dark shadows where the light emerges it’s easy to create dramatic effect. Using oil colour technique allows me to blend the colours and give real depth to the painting. Oil colour is what I began with once I started my artist career and the variety of effects is so wide that I’ve never got interested in other painting mediums. From other mediums for art work I also enjoy drawing with pencil and charcoal.

Biography

I’m from an Estonian family where I have other relative who also chose art as their career path. Isikunäitus "Inimloom"

Noore maalikunstniku Kristi Tammiku (sünd 1989) isikunäitus Haus Galeriis.
Eksponeeritav teostevalik hõlmab rea suureformaadilisi kompositsioone inimfiguuridest ja hobustest, millel on valdavalt mütoloogiline/seksuaalne alatoon. Väljapanek on edasiarenduseks autori samanimelisele lõputööle Tartu Ülikooli maali erialal. "Ma sooviks väga jätta lahti seletamata või põhjendamata oma maaliseeria "Inimloom" sisu. Ent maale vaadates, uurides tekib ka mul endal üha uusi küsimusi, mis see siin pildi peal üldse on? Nii mitmetähenduslikud olukorrad kui ka ebardlikud olendid ja sümbolid moodustavad sürreaalse atmosfääri, kus jäävad paljud küsimused vastusteta. Miks ma maalisin looma ja inimest, miks hobust ja meest? Ma ütleks, et miks mitte – vahendid nagu iga teinegi, et pakkuda psühholoogilist pinget. Moonutasin inimest loomaks ning instinktiivselt ja irratsionaalselt tegutsevaks olendiks. Ja andsin loomale inimlikud omadused nagu kalkuleeritus, nõrk füüsis, pikk eluiga jne. Ka minu enda soov suhestuda maalitavatega selgitab, miks minu vahendiks sai inimese keha. Et aga mitte enda mugavusstsoonist lahkuda ja mitte laskuda isiklikesse afääridesse, selleks kasutasin mitte enda, vaid mehe keha. Sellega rõhun teema universaalsusele ja igavikulisusele. Kas inimloomad seostuvad antiikmütoloogiaga, loomalikkusega, meie olemuse või päritoluga, "tegelikkusega"? Siinkohal vastavad küsimustele vaatajad," ütleb kunstnik. Kristi Tammik omandas 2012. aastal Tartu Ülikooli kunstiosakonna bakalaureusekraadi, osalenud erinevatel grupinäitustel alates 2009. aastast. Avamine 16. aprillil kell 17.00.
