Part of the collection "Nemesis" In Greek mythology, Medusa is one of the most famous and terrifying creatures. She is described as a Gorgon, a female monster with snakes for hair and a face so hideous that anyone who looks at her directly turns into stone. Medusa is often depicted as a winged creature with a gaze that can petrify anyone who meets her eyes.
Medusa's origins vary in different versions of the myth, but one common story is that she was once a beautiful maiden who was transformed into a monster by the goddess Athena as punishment for desecrating her temple. Medusa's gaze became a powerful weapon, turning anyone who dared to look at her into stone.
Medusa's story is intertwined with the hero Perseus, who is tasked with killing her as part of his quest. With the help of Athena and other gods, Perseus manages to defeat Medusa by using a reflective shield to avoid looking directly at her. He beheads her while she sleeps, and from her severed neck springs the winged horse Pegasus and the giant Chrysaor.
Medusa's story has been a popular subject in art, literature, and popular culture, symbolizing themes of beauty, power, and the monstrous aspects of humanity. She remains a fascinating and iconic figure in Greek mythology, known for her fearsome appearance and deadly gaze.

Venezuelan painter, Studio in Rio de Janeiro. creating my own vision of the world

Multidisciplinary Artist Jhoan Roa was born in Guanare, Venezuela. In 2018 he moved to Philippines, where he worked the particle paintings before moves to Brazil

Since the end of the 2020s, Jhoan has used a varied practice of videos, sculptures and paintings to explore the expansion of the human being and the cycle in its entirety, through small particles that allow us to enter their own universe, being “Genesis” a metaphorical portal to a new dimension, with the aim of overcoming internal conflicts in each series of work. Explaining: "Art is a powerful tool that allows me to improve as a person." Jhoan's work investigates a reality of the human condition and the obsession with trying to answer the fundamental questions of life, from the existential dynamics that surround us.

Technological dehumanization has revealed a great concern about the future, and as a result, the search for having the necessary tools to face it. Being this obstacle the beginning to understand and achieve human improvement, together with the ability to adapt to any change and thus lead a full life, making this transition the leitmotiv of his work.
