I won first prize for this painting in multi techniques. Painted en-plein-air in a scorching 38° , I had to battle with the extreme brightness of the sunshine . As the competition unrolled I had to move with the shade once the afternoon sun crept over the mount. The mount itself is an extinct volcano, first inhabited by the greeks, now known as Séte. On this mount is the cemetery where the much beloved George Bressens is laid to rest. On top a beautiful chapel, viewpoint, wooded park and glorious art gallery .
My story tells of this beautiful, utilitarian building . It has details in the brickwork and architectural details to please the eye and make on wonder at the proficiency and skill of the masons who built it. The gulls were wheeling all around and the bike hints at the proximity of man. The community is built right up to the light house . Imagine hanging your washing out and looking up at this !

Jane Appleton is a painter and photographer whose artistic journey is as eclectic as it is captivating. After studying contemporary jewelry, she had the prestigious opportunity to exhibit at the ICA in London. Determined to further explore her artistic expression, she then turned her attention to multimedia design, seizing every opportunity that came her way. From nightclub murals and illustrative maps of Brighton, to posters, business signage, portraits of homes and businesses, to 3D objects and photography, she has explored a multitude of genres which have mutually enriched each other.

More recently, Jane has focused on large oil canvases capturing the energy and dynamism of the society around her. Its goal is to capture a fleeting moment with elegance and sophistication. Her interest in storytelling has also led her to illustrate four books and create vernacular works using different mixed media on canvas.

His talent and dedication have earned him more than sixty prizes in outdoor competitions in France. She was particularly honored to win the Grand Prize at the Béziers International Plastic Arts Fair in 2016. Based in the heart of the French vineyards, Jane explores the often little-known life of this exceptional landscape. From the smallest insects to the largest mammals, she tells their stories through mixed media, inks and collages. For her, stories are everywhere, even in the vegetable garden!

Jane has also been a prolific photographer for forty years, developing her own images and adopting computer graphics techniques with passion. His love for working in 3D only reinforces his versatility and commitment to his art.
