The photo project about the French Queen Catherine de' Medici opens my big author's project "Great Women".
The idea: to tell the true story of the formation of this Great woman - Catherine de' Medici. Under what circumstances her character was forged, immerse her in the context of time and brush off the interpretations of A. Dumas, to which we are so accustomed.
To do this, I decided to divide the project into three shootings: three, in my opinion, key periods of Catherine's life. Three, so as not to overload too much and go into the unnecessary wilds of history.
This shooting is the second in a row. It is the largest in terms of the number of models.
When Catherine was brought to marry the son of the French king Henry, she fell in love with her future husband at first sight and was faithful to him even after his death. Only Henry already had a mistress, an older woman, Diana de Poitiers. And Catherine had to put up with this love triangle and humiliation. She gave birth to heirs, and Henry spent time with his favorite. However, he had infinite respect for his wife.
I took the scene of the coronation of Henry and Catherine to the throne of France. During this ceremony, Diana de Poitiers dresses up in exactly the same ermine mantle that Catherine was wearing. Only royals can wear such robes. The ceremony is attended by the daughter of the favorite Duchess de Mayenne. When Catherine, exhausted by the long ceremony, can no longer hold the crown on her head, the Duchess takes it off and puts it at the feet of her mother, Diana. Ekaterina pretends that she did not pay attention to this act.
To make the scene more dramatic, I decided that Henry himself would put the crown at the feet of the favorite.
A large team worked on the shooting. Dresses for the heroines were sewn by the awesome Elena Kuchmaeva, make-up and hairstyles by Vera Shevchik. The magnificent Andrey Hoffman was responsible for the video. The irreplaceable Dmitry Kurylev helped.
