Forward to Yesterday (2024) Painting by Flavia Birsan

Flavia Birsan is a contemporary abstract artist based in Romania who has exhibited her art nationally and internationally and her paintings can be found in private collections in 27 countries in the world. Attracted to the gestural painting style, the artist continuously experiments with various supports and techniques, which explore minimalism and vivid colors. Flavia seeks to capture the essence of the emotional impressions she takes from her everyday life and to translate it on her paintings.

The artist explains her views on what she creates "I am fascinated by industrial aesthetics and time-worned structures. I try to capture the essence of how the passing of time makes us and the objects that surround us more beautiful, more expressive, and more interesting. Just like the texture which creates more depth and mystery, one wrinkle is not something to correct, but the sum of experiences to cherish.”
