About the author
Valantin is a professional artist and photographer. His photographic approach obeys only one objective: to seize particular atmospheres, to capture moments of beauty and to seize like the painter a unique moment associating geometry of the image and light.
From the boulevard de Bercy lit up at night, to the garden of plants under the snow, passing through the "Japanese" impressions of the Bois de Vincennes, each of his photos tries to translate a particular climate imbued with mystery and often loneliness. Because what has always fascinated him is to capture this unique and inexplicable moment that transports you to another world or to another dimension, often timeless. This moment that projects you into a world disconnected from the effervescence of Parisian life and urban reality with its share of noise but also visual nuisances.
But in his photos the human presence is important and often necessary and the man is almost always present in my photos. This presence contributes to the creation of a feeling of spleen, of melancholy but also of an atmosphere of tranquility, even of “zenitude”.
Valantin has worked for more than 20 years in communication for prestigious companies and in collaboration with renowned photographers. Fascinated by photography since his childhood, he was able to observe their techniques, their methods and judge the results obtained as responsible for many advertising campaigns.
It was only in 2007 that he decided to start as a professional photographer. At 46 following a dismissal, he had the opportunity to retrain in photography. The balance sheet after 3 years of activity encourages him in this direction: he has indeed obtained the artistic blur prize from Chasseurs d'Images, the grand prize of the major blue arts fair, and he was selected young talent by American Express. Not to mention numerous exhibitions, particularly in the town halls of the 11th and 12th arrondissements as well as at the SEL pavilion. In 2011, he produced a first book "le bois de Vincennes, Paris nature" with ARCADIA editions and he is currently working on a book of artistic photos of Paris with Silvana Editoriale editions.
If photography remains his favorite art, he decided 3 years ago after taking painting lessons with the painter of the navy Jean Dotaro to diversify his activities. He was able to exhibit his works with the sole theme of the maritime world (watercolor gouache) in Les Sables d'Olonne on several occasions.
