In a symphony of pale blue and turquoise, the vast sky stretches out, echoing the boundless possibilities that lie ahead. The canvas is infused with the warmth of ochre and sand, which provide the foundation upon which the girl's journey unfolds. Sienna and rust add depth and character, representing the challenges she faces along the way, while white symbolizes the purity of her aspirations.
As the girl traverses the textured canvas, her vibrant spirit shines through bursts of orange, representing her unwavering determination to overcome fears. She invites viewers to join her as she runs, embracing the freedom that only the sea and sand can offer.
Seaside Escape reminds us that in the solitude of nature, fears are transformed into victories. It encourages us to begin our own odyssey, to step outside the boundaries of comfort and face the unknown with unwavering courage. In this artwork, the young girl becomes an embodiment of our own potential and reminds us that freedom awaits those who dare to pursue it.

db Waterman is a contemporary Dutch artist. In her works she assembles original photography, assorted papers, acrylics, oil, charcoal, ink, and pencil. The variety of resources she is able to use has proved indispensable to her. The biggest challenge the collage medium posed was its unforgiving lack of transparency. Finding a way to replicate the effects of transparency afforded by paint, especially watercolors, was a large victory for the artist. The preparing labor shows through in her collages; layer upon layer of material remains visible in the finished pieces.
db Waterman believes that the body of her work is characterized by her skill for reinvention. Having always loved the appearance of weathered walls plastered with peeling paint and old posters, she revived this aesthetic with hopefully a keen and professional eye. The creative objective of her work is to “make something beautiful out of dilapidation.” Her tableaus explore the dissonance between old and new materials, intertwined in the most beautiful way possible to create dreamlike and melancholy images.
