Après ses études en ébénisterie et en design d’intérieur à l’école Boule (Paris), David Farsi a
développé une carrière d’artiste autodidacte. Influencé par son enfance en Afrique, ses
nombreux voyages et sa formation en métier d’art David s’est construit un univers personnel
tel un véritable bestiaire surréaliste. Sa démarche l’a conduit à explorer diverses techniques
d’expression comme la peinture, la sculpture, la mosaïque, le vitrail…. De ses explorations
David à développé une expertise de la laque. Reconnu comme spécialiste, ses années de
créations parisiennes ont été prolifiques. David a fait de nombreuses expositions, participé à
de nombreux salons et a remporté plusieurs prix.
Au début des années 2000, nourrir sa démarche impliquait pour David Farsi un changement
d’espace. C’est à ce moment là qu’il s’installe au Québec avec un projet en tête celui de
travailler une nouvelle « matière » le pixel. De 8 ans de recherche, un projet est né, 1024
oeuvres autonomes carrées comme autant de pixelles pour composer une seule oeuvre le Ko
(Kilooctet).
Depuis une dizaines d’années Farsi a repris un travail plus traditionnel de peinture. Sa
recherche le guide vers de nouvelles formes et l’exploration et le détournement de matériaux
actuels. Son travail récent est marqué par un dessin linéaire et affirmé. Sa démarche le conduit
à réfléchir à la compléxité des rapports humains.
On retrouve ses oeuvres dans plusieurs musées européens et parmi des collections publiques
et privées dans le monde.
