David Lopez
David A. Lopez was born in Whittier, CA. and raised in East Los Angeles .He received his art education at East Los Angeles College and the Prestigious Art Center College of Design. From there, he chose not to Seek a public artistic career, but instead chose to work as a professional artist In the entertainment industry as a feature animation, background Painter, backdrop-artist, sketch artist, illustrator and production painter such studios as MGM, Warner Brothers, Paramount, Sony, Walt Disney, CBS and NBC.
Aside from his responsibilities as a studio artist, he found time to paint Subject matter of personal interest, such as landscapes, murals,portraiture as well as Hispanic and Native American art. His paintings have been exhibited in the Museum of Science and Industry, Los Angeles, the Smithsonian Institute, the Martin Luther King Archives, the Forest Law Art Museum in Glendale, CA. and various Art Galleries and museums.
He worked on several art projects, mostly murals. His most fanmous one,"The Virgin of Guadalupe"- at the Maravilla Housing Projects, on Mednik and Cesar Chavez Ave in East L.A. The mural received a Papal Blessing from the Vatican in Rome and to this day it serves as a popular shrine. It has been included in many books, newspapers, magazines nationally and international and shown on National TV.
His painting of 37 Hispanic Medal of Honor War recipients, painted together with long time friend, Robert Arenivar, is on permanent display in the Pentagon's "Hall of Hero's" in Washington, D.C The painting was unveiled by President Reagan for National Hispanic Week in 1982 and also featured in a one hour special on KCET Public Television.
David A. Lopez is now devoting his time to create fine works of art. His intense use and love of color, his confident brush strokes and ability to paint in many different mediums and styles is due to his vast exposure and myriad of influences in over 50 years of painting during the course of his prolific and Successful career as professional artist.
