A little musical fantasy where we walk into the room while he's deep in thought on his clavichord, and suddenly turns his head towards us.

The theme for most of my drawings revolves around the idea that even though the natural world creates dynamic and fluid forms that seem random and chaotic, they are actually governed by strict mathematical principles. My intent is to create a visual narrative using the flow and form of these elements as they are arrayed around geometric patterns.

Mostly self-taught, in my early days I attended college to study Art and Graphic Design. However, due unforeseen circumstances, I was not able to finish my formal education. Nevertheless, later I would obtain my Bachelors of Science in Information Systems.

Born and raised in Mexico City, I had an abundant source of inspiration to draw from. The Mesoamerican art style was imbued everywhere in every day life. It was hard to escape the precise and intricate geometric patterns that defined Aztec and Olmec styles.

At the age of 13 in 1978 we moved to Long Beach, California. In the 80's I attended California State University Long Beach to pursue my studies in graphic design where I was introduced to the fascinating works of Albert Durer, Hieronymus Bosch, and M.C. Escher. I was captivated by their style and imagination. These masters revealed something I found very intriguing: Our natural world, and how it functions, is arrayed by an invisible order that is only manifest through mathematics and geometry.

Due to family tragedies, I was not able to complete my art education but was forced to find full-time employment, thus ending any aspirations of a professional career in the arts. Nevertheless, as life took me through various paths, there was a pull within me that compelled me to continue drawing.
