Bogdan Tolbariu, born in 1984 (Romania), is a visual artist trained in figurative art at the National University of Art in Bucharest. He holds a Master's degree in Visual Arts from which he has varied experience - as a sculptor collaborating on several scenography projects, he was a university assistant and professor of plastic education in a specialized college, and, during Over the past eight years, he has created concepts for various video game studios. Interested in sculpture and painting, he questions the dialogue between fidelity to nature and the ineffable in art through various studies and explorations of living models. Although supported by direct observation of models or references, his artistic method does not fundamentally aim to simulate reality but rather to explore a living expression which nevertheless allows a meaningful aesthetic experience for the contemporary viewer. True to the creative investigation of human anatomy as a perpetual and fluid resource of symbols and revelations, Tolbariu sees his artistic studies as an alternative route to capturing a new, perhaps unexpected, aspect of human by constantly redefining skills and tradition, while exploring personal stories and questioning the fragile boundary between consciousness and tradition and unconscious truths.
