Awe Haiwe Francois is a contemporary Cameroonian visual artist based in Maroua. His passion for drawing began in childhood, but it was during his time at university that he honed his skills in painting. Haiwe's artistic approach centers on life itself, which he perceives as akin to a game of cards. Currently, he directs his focus and artistic expression toward shedding light on the plight of anonymous individuals who are victims of wars, terrorism, and various forms of violence. Through his art, he advocates for peace and the protection of human rights.
One of Haiwe's primary projects, titled "TORMENTS," delves into the physical and psychological trauma suffered by men, women, and children affected by the atrocities of the Boko Haram terrorist group. His paintings depict the harrowing experiences of those who have fallen victim to the cruelty of these heartless and inhumane actors.
With his youthful brush, Haiwe unveils the unseen scenes and concealed acts of violence perpetrated by those who justify their actions in the name of misguided causes. His artistry blends realism in form with vibrant, solid colors, creating impactful visual narratives that speak to the human experience in the face of adversity and conflict.
