This drawing shows an inn in a small 1600's village. It could be located anywhere in the Lowlands. We see a happy crowd of villagers consuming their mug of beer or wine while discussing the latest happenings and gossip of the day. We notice a traveler on his horse passing in the main road and in the distance the village church.
With this work I have tried to depict how a Ruysdael would see this scene.
