On June 24, a magical day and night, in which Sânziene or Dragaica Day is celebrated, a holiday that comes from Romanian mythology. At Sanziene (in summer solstice), the heavens opens and the cuckoo bird mutes (which unties its voice at the spring equinox). Plants acquire healing powers. For this reason, medicinal plants and those used for magical rites are harvested by Sanziene.
They come, fairy-flowers with healing powers. The girls are bathing in the dew This ritual is a tribute to water and fire.
Unlike Rusaliile (bad nymphs), Sanzienele are good fairies.
