Being a self-taught artist , André has worked in multiple art mediums.
These range from painting, ceramics, and kiln-formed glass.  Each of these mediums offer various challenges of manipulation and fabrication. Implementing certain ideas , thoughts and emotions in the beginning do not necessarily stay that way. He enjoys the surprises of creating work subconsciously sometimes.
His inspiration is drawn from many sources including nature, architecture, metaphors, history, the abstract, places, symbolism, illusion and interpreted in his own way.

André started focusing more on creating abstract paintings, working with acrylics and mixed-media on canvas. He aims to capture the presence, light and spirit of place. That 'place' being metaphorical and sometimes imaginary that captures human emotion.

Some of his paintings portray a more contemporary abstract , organic and textured approach with a spontaneous feel. Colour and sweeping brushstrokes all convey a certain energy to his paintings. André aims to let the viewer connect and feel these places (emotions) , both real and imaginary .
These themes of travel and place seem to permeate some of his artworks.

In 2006 he featured on SABC 3 television art and culture show named ' Curious Culture '.

Previously working through the Department of Art and Culture has afforded exhibition opportunities and experiences in working with different artists and crafters from various backgrounds.

Many of André's artwork's have been acquired locally and nationally and found homes to international collectors .

Currently also working in digital art medium as another way to express these themes.
