A good landscape painting is one that accurately represents a specific location. Albert Serino explains that this means that you must study the topography of the location, such as its hills, valleys, and different types of forests, and incorporate these elements into your work. You also need to pay attention to the weather and seasons, as certain times of year may have certain effects on the landscape. The colours used in a landscape painting should also correspond to the time of day, season, and other external factors that can influence their appearance. For instance, during the spring season when the days are longer, the colours of the landscape will be different from winter when the days are shorter and the colours are more muted.

Influenced by the Chinese landscape painting, surrealism and North American folk art, the Brooklyn-born painter Albert Serino creates paintings of landscapes, still life and portraiture.

This painter considers his creative practice as an act of representation, but of transformation.

Albert Serino has attended the Massachusetts College of Art, from where he received his BFA in painting.

For over 12 years Serino has worked as an art director and as an instructor at the Institute of Fine Arts, New York University.

He has been painting full time since the 1990s. Furthermore, Serino conducts painting workshops and classes at painting out of his studio in Brooklyn.

Albert Serino is widely recognized as one of New York’s most important Plein air impressionist artists. He observes the nature ever-changing light of day, takes photos in order to paint them later.

Serino has presented his paintings in some of the most prestigious galleries in the United States and Canada.
