One of the most famous contemporary Land Art Photographs is "Spiral Jetty" created by Robert Smithson in 1970. The artwork is a 1,500-foot-long spiral made out of black basalt rocks and earth that extends into the Great Salt Lake in Utah.
Another well-known artwork is "Broken Circle/Spiral Hill" created by Robert Morris in 1971. The artwork is a circular depression in the earth surrounded by a spiraling mound of earth. The work is located in Emmen, Netherlands, and is a symbol of the relationship between humans and nature.
