Synthetica Naturae is an ongoing visual study of the natural world that seamlessly merges the real, the unreal and the surreal. The exploration harnesses the power of Artificial Intelligence, presenting a world which has never lived nor died, into a timeless visual afterlife.
Traditional taxidermy captures and preserves the aesthetic qualities of specimens for study, education, and occasionally, solely for artistic expression. It’s an attempt to preserve what was, as what is. While the natural world continues, tooth and claw its survival-of-the-fittest paradigm, Synthetica Naturae, in contrast, introduces a more uncontrollable element to the equation.
Through the lens of AI, specimens are born with a puzzling genetic code, giving rise to species and alliances that defy the norms of the natural world. As life and AI converge, unexpected symbiosis unfolds, redefining the beauty that exists within the very concept of life and afterlife. The result allows us to reflect on our own power and responsibilities within our shared environment.
