The exposition of the artwork reflects the close connection of the local population with oil manifestations that they observed over the centuries. This unique experience had a significant impact on the toponymy of the region, particularly influencing names like Ropyanka, Repne, Ropytsa, and others.

The first mentions of oil extraction in the Carpathians can be found in literature from 1617. It's worth noting that the ancient settlement of Sloboda Rungunska was already engaged in Carpathian oil production in 1711. Over the centuries, oil became an integral part of the region's life.

A crucial moment in the history of Ukrainian oil production was the XVI - early XVII century when oil extraction began in the Carpathians. Already in the XVI century, the city of Drohobych was granted the privilege of illuminating streets with "rock oil," indicating early domestic use of oil.

The first oil refineries in Ukraine emerged precisely in the Carpathians, in the cities of Boryslav, Lviv, Drohobych, and Nadvirna. This stage in the region's history became a milestone for technological and economic development, marking the beginning of processes that shaped the landscape of modern oil industry in Ukraine.

Zenoviy Ketsalo (1919-2010), a People's Artist of Ukraine, an outstanding painter, and graphic artist, gained fame for his talent and contribution to the world of Ukrainian art. He is the author of renowned works that became part of the legacy of the Lviv School of Graphics.

Zenoviy Ketsalo (1919-2010) was a People's Artist of Ukraine, an outstanding painter and graphic artist who gained recognition for his talent and contribution to the world of art. He was born in the village of Dobrivlyany in Khodorivshchyna. Zenoviy received his artistic education at the Lviv State School of Applied Arts from 1933 to 1938, where he studied drawing, composition, sculpture, graphic design, oil and fresco painting. Later, he continued his studies at the Krakow Academy of Fine Arts, where he was mentored by prominent artists of the time, such as Kazimierz Dunikowski, Jan Henryk Rosen, Kazimierz Sichulski, and Ludwik Tyrowicz.

The beginning of World War II found Zenoviy teaching drawing and painting at a secondary school in Khodoriv. However, he was later forced to move to Lviv, where he was conscripted into the army in 1941. Due to his independent thinking and "anti-Soviet propaganda," he was transferred to a penal battalion and sentenced to 8 years in labor camps and 3 years of deprivation of civil rights. He served his term of imprisonment in the Urals, where he continued his artistic work and delved into engraving. It was during this time that his paintings gained recognition and value in the cultural world, as they were noticed by prominent figures in the art scene, such as O. Kulchytska, S. Hebus-Baranetska, and L. Levytskyi.

In 1962, Zenoviy Ketsalo joined the Union of Artists of the Ukrainian SSR and became the head of the graphic arts section and a member of the board of the Lviv Regional Organization of the Union of Artists of the Ukrainian SSR within a year. In 1990, he was recognized as a Merited Artist of Ukraine, and in 1995, he was bestowed the title of People's Artist of Ukraine, which attests to the high appraisal of his talent and contribution to the development of Ukrainian art.

Zenoviy Ketsalo's artistic legacy encompasses over 1,000 paintings. He was known for his masterful portraits and still lifes in painting, as well as his proficiency in lithography and etching in graphic arts. Proficient in all classical techniques of studio graphics, he constantly sought new subjects for his canvases and imbued everyday motifs with profound philosophical content.

Zenoviy Ketsalo, the People's Artist of Ukraine, left us a legacy of an outstanding artist that impresses with its diversity, skill, and depth. His paintings transport us to a world of beauty, emotions, and philosophical contemplation. He left a significant mark on Ukrainian culture, becoming a prominent figure in Ukrainian painting and graphic arts.
