Svetlana Saprykina is a artist, renowned for her unique approach to abstract art. She is a member of the Professional Union of Artists of Russia and an Honorary Member of the International Academy of Modern Arts. Saprykina has developed her own painting style, characterized by layered material application blended with elements of printmaking aesthetics.
In her artist statement, Svetlana discusses her exploration of the aesthetics of contemporary reality, probing questions about the phenomenon of human corporeality, the transformation of matter, and the boundary between the spiritual and the material. She contextualizes her knowledge and experience within the tradition of symbolism, working within the realm of abstract art while not completely eschewing objectivity, sometimes even emphasizing and playing with it. Saprykina considers herself a follower of the famous artist Georgia O’Keeffe, exploring the combination of unusual forms using new means of visual language. Her works are distinguished by layered painting and succinct coloration.
Svetlana pays special attention to her project "Philosophy of Stone," where she depicts the petrified ruins of human consciousness. This project reflects the impermanence of matter and its defined form in the external world, exploring the sense of personal constancy and the interconnectedness with the consciousness of the entire world, the collective memory. Saprykina sees humans as vessels, keepers of information, which is reflected in her profound and multilayered art.
