Wood Spirit (2022) Sculpture by Renaud Igor Vivot

For 35 years I have crossed the wood industry from the forest to the design office. For several years I have been returning to contact with this material that I love through sculpture with only a few simple, manual tools. The wood I use comes from my garden or the surrounding forests.

My favorite theme remains the Wood spirits and their legends which I discovered during a trip to Sweden in 1989 with a guide who told us that we are never alone in these immense forests. Despite the years, these stories still resonate and I continue to dream of this imaginary world and the creatures that inhabit it. So the pieces of wood that I sculpt are the shaping of these reveries.
