This piece is a fusion of realism and abstract expressionism. First, the realism is shown in the composition by intricate detailing and lifelike portrayal that captures the raccoon’s essence. Then the abstract expressionism is shown in the composition by spontaneous brush strokes and a vibrant color palette that breathes emotion into the artwork. The randomness of this piece arises from the juxtaposition of structured form and fluid colors, embodying a dance between tangible reality and ethereal fantasy. This was influenced by the works of Brian Mashburn, with his detailed style, and the vibrancy of Leonid Afremov, reflecting emotional intensity.

From the age of 3, when I received my first framed art of Frida Kahlo, creativity has been my steadfast companion. As a writer and artist, each contributes to the symphony of my life. In my studio, I have been playing with colors and textures since high school. Much like a conductor guiding an intimate ensemble of imagination, the canvas becomes my orchestra, and every brushstroke plays a note in the composition of my artistic journey.

Drawing from a rich lineage that includes ancestors such as Jackson Pollock, Agnes Bernice Martin, and Alfred Barr—one of the luminaries behind the founding of the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA)—my art education is deeply rooted in both history and innovation. This heritage has inspired me to engage directly with MoMA's educational offerings, where I immersed myself in classes that expanded my understanding and appreciation of art. My journey into the realm of abstract expressionism was profoundly influenced by the work of Ed Swarez, whose techniques and visions have been a cornerstone of my artistic development. Additionally, contemporary artists like Kit King, Adele Sypesteyn, Carla McAfee, and Pauline Agnew have provided me with invaluable insights and inspiration, demonstrating the power of art to evoke emotion and provoke thought in myriad ways. Beyond these individual mentors, I have also benefited from the teachings of the Gillian Lee Smith Art School and Art Academy, as well as a selection of ten college art classes that further broadened my horizons. This eclectic and comprehensive art education has been instrumental in shaping my creative philosophy, blending traditional techniques with modern interpretations to forge a style that is uniquely my own.
