My interest in artistic expression manifested itself since childhood. This was not always a source of joy for my parents. When retarring the street in front of our house in Berlin (West), one evening after the workers had left, I found some very interesting pieces of tar, very hard and reminiscent of black glass. How could I shape something with it? Of course, I observed that the tar became soft from the heat. So before going to bed, I put one on the radiator in my room. In the morning there was a strong smell and the radiator ribs were black. I still have to admire my parents' controlled reaction. They bought me some clay.
I also drew and painted a lot, but my parents avoided “congratulating” me for it. I am grateful to them because praise is a trap, it makes you dependent.
When I was 15, we left Berlin and moved to Bavaria. At 19, I left our small town to settle in Munich.
A professor from the Academy of Fine Arts included me in his class. I remember a classic question: “Which artist is your model?” » With youthful modesty, I replied: “Leonardo da Vinci! "And why?". “Because He not only painted but was interested in EVERYTHING! »
This also explains why I finally gave up on a purely artistic career. It seemed too narrow to me, I wanted to learn, to know and to do more.
So I studied artistic education, which is combined with internships in workshops of all kinds including art history.
Everything fascinated me and I couldn't learn and work hard enough.
I also really enjoyed working with children and young people at high school in Bavaria and for 4 years in Milan.
Then, I was called to the “Teacher Training Academy” and I organized courses there for art teachers in order to give them new ideas: meetings and work with artists of all stripes, sculptors , painters, but also computer scientists, and art history trips from Paris to Rome.
At the same time, I was a representative of “German Artistic Education” at the Pan-European Congresses from Helsinki to Athens.
Despite all these tasks, I never stopped drawing, painting and making sculptures myself, but it was always clear to me that my work as an artist, only as an artist, was still ahead of me .
It's been 10 years now that I've had the opportunity to do this. It was also a path, an evolution, as is the case for many artists. New ideas, new shapes, new sculptures emerge little by little and wait to be materialized.
