Etienne Bonnet, a contemporary French artist, is renowned for his evocative exploration of the female form. Critics have described his body of work as an emotive portrayal of the female body, capturing a sense of fragility and vulnerability. In Bonnet's paintings, women are depicted in a state of undress, their bodies conveying a mix of pleasure and despair, their faces and hair exuding an air of ungratefulness yet endearing vulnerability. They resemble lanky cats, weary from giving and loving too much, evoking a desire to provide comfort and protection.
Bonnet's artistic journey began with studies at the College of Graphic Arts in Pennhingen from 1974 to 1978. Following this, he served as a drawing teacher at the National School of Architecture in Dakar, Senegal, from 1978 to 1979. From 1979 to 1982, he focused on producing illustrations and book covers for publications such as L'Express, L'Expansion, Albin Michel, and Armand Colin.
Between 1983 and 1998, Bonnet shifted his focus to the production of images and Minitel sites for companies including France Telecom, NMPP, and Air France. Subsequently, from 2001 to 2019, he worked as a communication consultant, with projects including Pole Emploi and General Manager positions.
In 2019, Bonnet's career took a new turn as he became a Professor of Living Modeling at the Censier Animation Center in the City of Paris. Throughout his diverse career, Etienne Bonnet's artistic vision has remained steadfast, capturing the essence of the female form with sensitivity and depth.
