Anatloliy Chudinovskikh is a successful artist whose works are well loved by connoisseurs and have sold successfully, including at auctions from auction houses such as Henry's. His paintings were at the auction alongside a painting by artist Banksy.Anatoly Chudinovsky's works were exhibited at the 2010 G20 summit in the Russian House.
The artist was born in 1937 in Kirov. After an early childhood in a family exposed to political repression, his parents moved with him to Kharkov when he was ten years old. There his father worked at a Malyshev plant. After completing the seventh grade, he decided to undergo flight training at the Kharkov flight school. However, his class was terminated after two years of training. In 1961 he graduated from the Kharkov Vocational School of Art, from 1964 to 1966 he studied art at the Kharkov Art Institute. In the 1960s he became friends with famous painters Vagrich Bakhchanyan (who later emigrated to the United States, where he worked with writers Sergei Dovlatov and Alexander Genis) and Evgeniy Solovyov (who designed Kharkov's Pushkinskaya metro station). The three non-conformists defied the then prevailing realism with their own formalistic approaches. Until the early 1970s he worked as a painter and designer at the Pushkin Drama Theater in Kharkov, where he was particularly active in the production of theatrical performances, collaborating with the famous painter Oleg Zelkov. From 1970 to 1989 he worked as a designer - mainly of posters - in Kharkov's artists' combine and for other institutions. Around this time he became friends with the painter Pavel Taiber. From 1990 to 1996 he worked as a painter and graphic artist in Kharkov's Tarash Shevchenko Theater of Ukrainian Drama.
