Joe Moreira Alcântara, brasileiro, amazonense, escultor, faz parte de uma família de escultores a “J. Alcântara”, aprendeu com o pai a arte de trabalhar com a madeira e desenvolveu a arte de entalhar e de esculpir. Joe trabalha com esculturas desde os 10 anos de idade. Começou ajudando o pai, que também é escultor, a fazer móveis, depois passou a esculpir felinos, dando destaque a escultura de onça-pintada.
Atualmente trabalha esculpindo vários animais da fauna amazônica. Suas obras desde o início tiveram boa receptividade com o público. As esculturas são feitas a partir de resíduos de madeira, em blocos de madeira bruta sem emendas.
Para a criação das esculturas, Joe desenvolve pesquisa sobre o estudo anatômico e o hábito dos animais para que se traduza na obra o realismo, tendo um resultado impressionante. Com seu estilo próprio, Joe já possui obras espalhadas em várias regiões e divulgadas em vários livros de arte popular brasileira
