Paulo Sérgio Nogueira Soares (Paulinho Soares) nasceu em Anagé/BA em 1966, onde passou a sua infância às margens do Rio Gavião. Atualmente, vive e trabalha em Vitória da Conquista onde mantém sua oficina de produção escultórica. Inicia seu trabalho em 1980 e oito anos depois organiza sua primeira exposição individual em Vitória da Conquista/ BA. A partir de então participou de coletivas de arte e realizou diversas mostras individuais. Determinado pela imaginação criativa, o trabalho sempre primou por temas universais, nos quais a figura humana ganha representação nas linhas e contornos da madeira. Grandes artistas e suas obras serviram de inspiração para o desenvolvimento das obras de Soares, como por exemplo Remédios Varo, M.C. Escher, além das influências filosóficas e culturais de Walter. Benjamin, Ítalo Calvino e Pierre Verger. Suas obras estão em acervos particulares e em instituições públicas como Banco do Brasil, Banco do Nordeste, Biblioteca Pública Municipal de Vitória da Conquista, SESC, Memorial Casa Regis Pacheco, Museu Tempo Glauber e Museu de Arte Moderna da Bahia.
