关于作者
Alithini was born in Stuttgart to a German father and a Greek mother from Ikaria.
Having obvious artistic tendencies as a child she was taught painting, music and dance.
Growing up she left the humdrum of school and restriction of family life to travel.
For the last years she has been based in Santorini, where she lives with her own family.
She observes the traditional forms of art and studies the great poets, authors, philosophers
and painters, but most of all the contemporary streams in poetry and painting that she is given to herself.
Traditional Greek families, filtered through the sieve of her personal experiences.
Her naive painting scenes are loaded with all the genuine characteristics of this specific gender,
plus an extraordinarily rich emotional luggage.
They illustrate what “happiness” means for the artist, a gentle reminder of the core values of the Greek culture.
Although it might not be intended, they become a manifest against the globalisation and the individualism generated by it in the modern society.
Having engaged several manners of work over the years, Alithini’s paintings reproduce familiar visual and aural signs.
In different series, from the abstract deeply layered compositions to collages of different materials and
natural patterns strongly impregnated into the paint, the works are powerful and invite to introspection.
Her aesthetics rely on our desires for beauty, poetics and sensuality. The act of nurturing is majestically indulged
by a very subtle manifestation of a seductive process.
The variety of parallel directions Alithini’s work has taken over the years might be the reflection of an extremely complex character,
like different worlds living under the same roof, sometimes colliding, but gloriously harmonized in a beautiful,
balanced projection towards the outside world.
Her work is defined by a strong to stormy sentimentalism which most of the time carries away the logic
of consequence and phenomena, remaining always true.*
She displays her art work in a family workshop in Oia Santorini, from were many of them have been shipped to many countries around the world.
The past eight years she has been joining the annual collective exibition in the island of Santorini.
In 2016 she has participate in Santorini Art Biennalle, titled ''Alice in Wonderland'' with a painting and a poem, both with the title ''Wonder Land''
