David Cadran n’est pas né dans l’univers des formes et des couleurs. Mais après la visite d’une exposition, en 2001 à l’hôpital de Lannion, il se met avec passion à la réalisation de tableaux… de sable. Sous ses doigts naissent des portraits. Portraits de stars, de Brassens à Leo Ferré, en passant par woody Allen. Portraits aussi et surtout d’hommes et de femmes anonymes de cultures enracinées. Des Mongols aux Himbas de Namibie. Le monde, soudain, respire dans l’atelier du Boulevard d’Armor.
L’art pour l’art ? Oui, un peu. Mais pas seulement. David a la passion des matériaux, récoltés sur les plages de Trédrez-Locquémeau qui l’ont vu grandir. Des matériaux qu’il colore ensuite lui même avec des pigments dont il garde le secret.
David explore d’autres univers. Et d’autres matériaux. Comme le pastel. « Un matériau avec lequel je me libère, qui me permet des retouches et rectifications. Le sable, lui, ne laisse pas droit à l’erreur. »
Avec le sable, certains font des châteaux. Lui a choisi de faire des tableaux. Moins éphémères sans doute. Tant mieux pour nous.
