Sylvie Bourely is een hedendaagse Franse beeldhouwer. Het vrouwelijk lichaam heeft haar altijd geïnspireerd en studies op het gebied van mode hebben haar waarnemingsvermogen, proporties en nauwkeurigheid aangescherpt. In haar nieuwste serie sculpturen wijdt ze zich volledig aan de productie van vrouwelijke naakten, voornamelijk gemaakt van zandsteen met witte extrafijne chamotte.
Voor de kunstenaar die de klei bewerkt, is het als het ontwaken van de creatieve energie, belichaamd door de ziel van het vrouwelijke. Als ze de klei aanraakt, komt ze er op dat moment mee in verbinding: het stelt haar dan in staat om uit het vlees de vrouwelijke inhoud te bevrijden. De sculptuur, eenmaal voltooid, komt tot leven en straalt de emotie uit die iedereen kan voelen volgens zijn eigen ervaring.
