Es ist ungenau, von abstrakter Malerei zu sprechen. Abstrakt mag die Vorstellung eines perfekten Kreises sein, doch jene Gemälde, die wir als Nicht- Gegenständlich bezeichnen, handeln von einer Körperhaftigkeit der Farbe, von einem Pinselstrich oder von Widerspruch und Einheit. Der Malprozess nimmt bei jenen Bildern höchste Bedeutung ein. Ein solches fertiges Bild könnte man als „fertige Musik" oder „gefrorene Musik" bezeichnen. Die bildnerische Handlung, in der Tiefe ihres Wesens wertfrei, richtet sich letztlich auf das Bild im Gleichgewicht.
