Est-ce par ce qu’elle est née à Noyon, sous le ciel bas de Picardie, que Pauline Bailly affectionne tant les nuages ? Depuis plus de huit ans, son œuvre picturale se déploie autour des figures des femmes-nuages, des peintures à l’huile qu’elle réalise au gré de ses inspirations, en petit ou grand format.
Ses études de cinématographie à l’Université de Lille ne l’ont pourtant pas prédestinée à la peinture, qu’elle a patiemment apprise en autodidacte. Également scénariste, elle allie aujourd’hui son goût pour l’écriture cinématographique à son travail d'artiste, et s’est lancée dans un projet de film d’animation autour Suzanne Valadon, dont la vie de femme libre et d’artiste majeure a nourri son propre travail autour des femmes nuages.
Les Femmes-Nuages
Évanescentes, enrobées de mystère, les femmes nuages de Pauline Bailly doivent tout autant au surréalisme qu’à la libre fantaisie de leur autrice. Elles sont comme un trait d’union poétique entre le portrait et le paysage. Les tableaux, dans leur personnalité propre, sont des invitations à l’évasion, dont le sens n’est pas imposé.
