Patterns and Passions
21 October - 10 November, 2009
EE Fine Art is proud to present the first solo exhibition in the UK by the Romanian artist, Dimisca Laurentiu. Laurentiu’s acrylic paintings are richly worked and full of colour and spontaneity. His paintings contain a strong sense of narrative, effortlessly fusing imagination with reality. The complex shapes and patterns he uses present the impression of movement: his paintings are filled with a dancing rhythm that bounds out of the canvas giving a sense of joy and vitality to the onlooker. The bold outlines, shapes and colours this Romanian artist uses, have a tribal flavour to them whilst also reminding the viewer of naive or folk painting; however his paintings are deeply complex in narrative and meaning. Laurentiu takes his inspiration from mythologies and the folk tales of his childhood, and transforms them into glorious works of art. “Is he a painter? Philosopher? Both, carry him un-doubtably to the peak of the art. As all the artists of the world, he is a defender of the freedom of creation. Realism and Utopia lead his hand, he hurries, paints fast, there are many things to be done and the life is so short.” (Luis Marcel, Professor of Sculpture, Raw Art and Contemporary Art expert) Laurentiu has had exhibitions as far afield as the Dominican Republic, and his work is held in private collections in Romania, Italy, Germany, USA, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, France, Holland and Taiwan. This exhibition promises to be an unmissable celebration of pattern, colour and life.
